National Art School Gallery occupies the former A-Wing cell block of the historic Darlinghurst Gaol, at the heart of the National Art School's campus. Celebrating 20 years in 2026, it presents ambitious group and solo exhibitions by Australian and international artists, accompanied by scholarly publications and public programs, and tours shows nationally. The school itself traces its origins to 1843 and has occupied the gaol site since 1922.
