Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, also known as Wan Qing Yuan, occupies a two-storey colonial villa built in 1901 in Balestier. It served as the Southeast Asian headquarters of Sun Yat Sen's Tongmenghui revolutionary organisation, where the 1911 Xinhai Revolution that ended imperial rule in China was planned. Gazetted a national monument in 1994, the hall's galleries normally hold nearly 400 artefacts, including calligraphy, photographs and a 60-metre bronze mural of Singapore's history. The building is currently closed for restoration.
