Built in 1941 as Ford's first car-assembly plant in Southeast Asia, this Art Deco building is where Lieutenant-General Arthur Percival surrendered British forces to Japan on 15 February 1942, marking the fall of Singapore. Gazetted a national monument in 2006, it is now run by the National Archives of Singapore as a gallery on the Japanese Occupation. The permanent exhibition "Surviving the Japanese Occupation: War and its Legacies" draws on oral histories, archival records and artefacts to tell the story of the surrender, the Occupation, and its lasting legacies.</description> <parameter name="website_url">https://corporate.nas.gov.sg/former-ford-factory/
