Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture occupies the piers and warehouses of a 1910s U.S. Army port on the Marina waterfront, which shipped troops and supplies across the Pacific in World War II and became a cultural centre in 1976. Today it is a multi-tenant campus of theatres, galleries and restaurants, including Haines Gallery, SF Camerawork and Museo Italo Americano, with free Fort Mason Art installations and FOR-SITE's Guardhouse projects around the grounds. Pier 2, now the Gateway Pavilion, housed the San Francisco Art Institute's graduate campus from 2017 to 2022.
