MACRO - Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome

ArtDesignClosed todayFrom €6Nizza/Regina Margherita (bus 38, 60, 62, 82)

MACRO is Rome's civic museum of contemporary art, occupying a converted late-19th-century Peroni brewery in the Salario-Nomentano district. French architect Odile Decq's 2010 extension threads black walkways, white galleries and a vivid red auditorium through the old industrial shell. Rather than a fixed permanent display, the museum runs an ambitious, ever-changing programme of solo shows, video art and research projects spanning Italian and international practice since the 1960s.
