The Musée national Picasso-Paris holds the world's largest public collection of Pablo Picasso's work, with more than 5,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics and prints spanning every period of his career. It is housed in the Hôtel Salé, an ornate mansion built in 1656-1659 in the Marais, which opened as the museum in 1985 and reopened after a major renovation in 2014. The holdings, drawn largely from the artist's estate, are complemented by Picasso's personal archives and his own collection of works by other masters.
