The Musée Cognacq-Jay occupies the Hôtel de Donon, a 16th-century mansion in the heart of the Marais. Its intimate, panelled rooms recreate an 18th-century interior filled with the art that department-store founders Ernest Cognacq and Marie-Louise Jaÿ assembled between 1900 and 1925. Highlights include paintings by Boucher, Fragonard and Chardin, pastels by Maurice-Quentin de La Tour, sculptures, Saxon porcelain, snuffboxes and stamped furniture. Entry to the permanent collection is free.
