Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain

ArtDesignClosed todayFrom €15Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre (Métro 1, 7)

Founded by the jeweller Cartier in 1984, this is one of France's foremost private contemporary art institutions, with a collection of over 1,500 works by more than 350 artists. In October 2025 it left Jean Nouvel's celebrated glass pavilion on Boulevard Raspail for a vast new home opposite the Louvre, again designed by Nouvel inside the listed former Grands Magasins du Louvre. Its program champions established and emerging artists across art, architecture, photography, design and science, with three glazed skylights and mobile galleries lighting some 8,400 m2 of space.
