iThe National Museum of Art, Osaka holds about 8,000 Japanese and international works, mainly from 1945 onward. It stands on Nakanoshima island beside the Osaka Science Museum, in a César Pelli building whose visible steel exterior evokes reeds in the wind. Entrance, shop and restaurant sit just below ground, with the galleries on the two levels beneath. It moved here in November 2004 from its first home at the former Expo '70 site.

Works from the museum's collection on images and words where languages and cultures meet, focused on Asian borderlands shaped by colonial rule and war.

Collection show revisiting Pop Art, Minimalism and Conceptualism of the 1960s and the social conditions behind them, ahead of the museum's 2027 anniversary.
