The BMW Museum sits beside BMW Welt and the BMW Tower on the site of the company's Munich headquarters, its distinctive bowl-shaped building designed by Karl Schwanzer opened in 1973. Nine thematic "houses" trace BMW's history, design language, technology, motorsport and motorcycles through around 120 vehicles, engines and concept studies across 5,000 square metres. Temporary exhibitions rotate alongside the permanent collection, including a dedicated Art Car gallery.
