The Getty Villa is J. Paul Getty's re-creation of a first-century Roman country house, modelled on the Villa dei Papiri at Herculaneum and opened in 1974 on a hillside above the Pacific in Pacific Palisades. Since its 2006 renovation it has been the Getty Museum's home for Greek, Roman and Etruscan art, with around 44,000 antiquities spanning roughly 6,500 BCE to 400 CE, including the bronze Victorious Youth and the Lansdowne Herakles. Visitors wander four Roman-inspired gardens, among them the Outer Peristyle with its 220-foot reflecting pool, and an outdoor classical theater. The Villa closed after the January 2025 Palisades Fire and reopened on 27 June 2025.

Admission is free but requires a timed-entry reservation, bookable up to six weeks ahead. Parking is $25 per car or motorcycle ($15 after 3pm), cashless. There is no street parking; walk-in visitors are admitted only if they arrive by public bus.
