Craft Contemporary is a non-profit, non-collecting museum on Los Angeles' Museum Row, the only West Coast institution dedicated exclusively to contemporary craft. Founded in 1973 as the Craft and Folk Art Museum and rebranded in 2019, it occupies a 1930 Gilbert Stanley Underwood building renovated by Hodgetts + Fung, directly across Wilshire Boulevard from the La Brea Tar Pits. Rotating exhibitions and a Maker-in-Residence program center ceramics, textiles, fiber and socially engaged craft practice, often by Latinx, Indigenous and Black artists.
