Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Pavilion of Knowledge) is Portugal's largest science and technology centre, run by Ciência Viva on the former Expo 98 site in Parque das Nações. Opened in July 1999 in a building by architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça that won the Valmor Prize, it fills some 4,000 m² with hundreds of interactive exhibits on physics, maths, chemistry, biology and the social sciences. Highlights include the Exploratorium-born Explora hall, the TCHARAN! science circus for younger children and a rolling programme of large temporary exhibitions.
