The museum occupies the house and workshop that Victor Horta built for himself on Rue Américaine between 1898 and 1901. Its interiors, centred on a staircase lit from above by a glass roof, are preserved with their stained glass, precious woods and integrated furniture. The adjoining workshop explains Horta's work and the restoration of the site, and a new annex at no. 27 is the entrance. The house belongs to the UNESCO listing of the Major Town Houses of Victor Horta.
