Eight teen artists from Artists for Humanity use color to tell stories and express emotion, at the ICA's Teen Gallery, Seaport Studio.
Even the wall text here was written by a teenager. Teens in the ICA's Teen Exhibitions Program planned and hung this show, and the eight artists in it are teens from Artists for Humanity, a Boston programme that pays young people for professional art and design work.
The thread is colour. Some of the artists pick colours that tie a work to current events, others to history, and others to a feeling or one of life's simple pleasures. The ICA leads with Diana C.'s Orange Juice, acrylic on wood. If you like something, the work is for sale: ask AFH at exhibitions@afhboston.org.
It isn't in the museum building. The Teen Gallery is on the second floor of Seaport Studio, 100 Pier 4 Blvd, shared with the teen show Sonder, with couches to sit on. Entry is free, but it opens only Tuesday to Thursday, 2 to 5 pm, or by appointment through teens@icaboston.org.
Free entry, and Seaport Studio is wheelchair and stroller accessible, with couches throughout the Teen Gallery.
