iThe Museum der Kulturen Basel is a museum of world cultures on Münsterplatz in Basel's old town. Its permanent shows include Alles lebt, Memory and the Basler Fasnacht display. Temporary exhibitions draw on the collection and often add hands-on stations and an audio guide.

Around 200 objects show how colours are made, traded and used for protection, decoration and communication, with hands-on stations and an audio guide.

About 250 textiles from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America show how folding, stitching and binding cloth before dyeing creates patterns, with a hands-on station.

Gold objects from the collection meet critical views on gold mining, from ceremonial value to ecological and social costs, with voices of people affected.

165 collection objects and contemporary works question human-centred views of the world and ask how to relate to rivers, trees, animals and ancestors.
