Le musée national autrichien du théâtre est installé au Palais Lobkowitz, une résidence baroque des années 1690 dont la salle d'apparat, l'Eroica Hall, a accueilli les toutes premières représentations de la Troisième Symphonie de Beethoven. Rattachée au groupement des musées du KHM, l'institution conserve plus de deux millions de pièces : maquettes de décors, costumes, dessins, photographies et marionnettes, dont le célèbre Figurenspiegel de Richard Teschner. Le tableau Nuda Veritas (1899) de Gustav Klimt figure parmi les pièces maîtresses de la collection. Le musée est fermé pour d'importants travaux de rénovation depuis août 2025.
