Le Humboldt Forum s'élève au cœur du château de Berlin reconstruit, sur la Schlossplatz, inauguré par étapes entre 2020 et 2022. Ses deuxième et troisième étages abritent le musée ethnologique et le musée d'art asiatique, soit près de 20 000 objets d'exception – de la porte de Sânchî aux peintures murales des grottes de Tourfan, jusqu'à un authentique pavillon de thé japonais –, présentés dans une démarche attentive aux questions de provenance et au passé colonial. Le premier étage accueille l'exposition BERLIN GLOBAL ainsi que les espaces en accès libre du Humboldt Lab, tandis que des présentations gratuites disséminées dans tout le bâtiment retracent 800 ans d'histoire du site, des caves voûtées du palais originel aux souvenirs du palais de la République.
