O Haus der Musik abriu as suas portas em 2000 como o primeiro museu da Áustria dedicado ao som e à música. Está instalado no Palais Erzherzog Carl, antiga residência de Otto Nicolai aquando da fundação da Vienna Philharmonic, em 1842. Ao longo de quatro pisos, a visita percorre o museu e arquivo da própria orquestra, passa pelo laboratório sonoro interativo Sonotopia e culmina em salas consagradas a Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss e Mahler. No piso superior, empunhe a batuta e assuma o papel de Virtual Conductor para reger a orquestra no ecrã.
