O Museo Cerralbo ocupa o sumptuoso palacete madrileno que o 17.º Marquês de Cerralbo mandou construir nas décadas de 1880 e 1890 para expor as suas coleções privadas. Pouco alterado desde a abertura ao público, em 1944, o palácio conserva pinturas, armaduras, peças arqueológicas, moedas e artes decorativas exatamente como o marquês as dispôs nos seus salões dourados, no salão de baile e na biblioteca. É um contraponto íntimo, preservado numa cápsula do tempo, aos grandes museus estatais de Madrid.
