Le Sigmund Freud Museum occupe l'appartement du Berggasse 19 où Freud a vécu et exercé de 1891 jusqu'à sa fuite d'Autriche en 1938, après l'annexion nazie. Inauguré en 1971 en présence d'Anna Freud, le musée a été rénové et agrandi en 2020 ; il dévoile désormais l'ensemble des appartements privés de la famille ainsi que les cabinets de Sigmund et d'Anna Freud, dont la salle d'attente d'origine. Les lieux abritent également une importante bibliothèque de recherche sur la psychanalyse, une collection d'art conceptuel et des expositions temporaires consacrées à la psychanalyse et à son histoire.
