Inauguré en 2012 près de la place Gwanghwamun, ce musée retrace le parcours de la Corée du Sud, de la fin du XIXe siècle à nos jours. Son espace permanent, History Hall, se déploie en trois sections chronologiques consacrées à la résistance à l’époque coloniale, à la reconstruction et à la démocratisation après la guerre, puis à l’essor du pays comme puissance économique et culturelle mondiale. Dans Experience Hall, les visiteurs peuvent découvrir différentes décennies à travers des objets du quotidien. Un programme renouvelé d’expositions temporaires explore des moments et des thèmes précis de l’histoire moderne de la Corée.
