Le musée national d’art de Catalogne occupe le Palau Nacional, construit pour l’Exposition internationale de 1929, où il abrite ses collections depuis 1934. Il est surtout réputé pour ses peintures murales romanes, déposées des églises pyrénéennes entre 1919 et 1923, notamment celles de l’abside de Sant Climent de Taüll. La collection se poursuit avec la peinture gothique, de la Renaissance et baroque, puis le modernisme catalan, le noucentisme, la photographie et l’art de la guerre civile espagnole. Les terrasses sur le toit offrent une vue panoramique sur Barcelone.
