CaixaForum Barcelona occupe l’usine Casaramona, une manufacture textile moderniste crénelée achevée par Josep Puig i Cadafalch en 1911 et restaurée par la Fondation « la Caixa » avant son ouverture comme centre culturel en 2002. Les visiteurs pénètrent par l’entrée en acier et verre conçue par Arata Isozaki, puis descendent vers un foyer dominé par une peinture murale de Sol LeWitt. Ses galeries accueillent d’importantes expositions temporaires, souvent enrichies de prêts d’institutions telles que le British Museum, ainsi qu’une installation de Joseph Beuys issue de la collection de la fondation, sans oublier des conférences, des concerts et des activités pour les familles.
