Inaugurado en 2006 a orillas del Spree, frente a la Berliner Dom, el DDR Museum relata el día a día en la República Democrática Alemana a través de instalaciones interactivas concebidas para ser tocadas. Sus 1000 m² de exposición abordan la escuela, el trabajo, las vacaciones, el consumo, la ideología, el Muro y la Stasi, con piezas destacadas como un simulador de conducción de un Trabant P601 y una vivienda de paneles prefabricados WBS 70 completamente amueblada. Todos los textos están disponibles en alemán e inglés.
