O museu de culturas do mundo de Viena reúne mais de 400.000 artefactos etnográficos e arqueológicos, desde o único toucado de penas do antigo México ainda existente até à coleção polinésia de James Cook, bronzes do Benim e a maquete de uma residência daimyō do período Edo japonês. Fundado como departamento de etnologia do museu da corte de história natural e renomeado Weltmuseum Wien em 2013, reabriu em 2017 com 14 salas de exposição no Corps de Logis do Neue Burg, em Heldenplatz. A mostra permanente aborda criticamente as circunstâncias em que as peças chegaram a Viena, incluindo o contexto da apropriação colonial, a par de exposições temporárias temáticas.
