Friedensreich Hundertwasser remodelou a antiga fábrica de móveis de madeira curvada da Thonet, no bairro vienense de Weißgerber, entre 1989 e 1991, dotando-a de pisos ondulantes, uma fachada axadrezada e vegetação que brota do próprio edifício. Os seus dois pisos inferiores acolhem a única exposição permanente do mundo dedicada à obra de Hundertwasser. Os andares superiores apresentam exposições temporárias de arte contemporânea internacional focadas na ecologia e na relação entre o ser humano e a natureza, assumindo-se o espaço como o primeiro museu verde da Áustria.
