O edifício principal de Seosomun do Seoul Museum of Art fica atrás do Palácio Deoksugung, no centro de Seul. A fachada do tribunal em estilo renascentista, datada de 1928, foi preservada como entrada para uma ala moderna de exposições, acrescentada em 2002. Desde a inauguração, em 1988, o SeMA tornou-se a principal instituição de arte contemporânea da cidade, com grandes exposições de arte coreana e internacional distribuídas por três pisos de galerias e uma sala no subsolo. A fachada em arco do antigo tribunal tem estatuto de património: foi classificada como Património Cultural de Seul n.º 237 em 2006.
