Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now

Em cartaz5 de junho de 2026 – 10 de janeiro de 2027·$ 30

A sweeping survey of Pop art from the 1960s to today, with works by Warhol, Lichtenstein, Oldenburg, Hamilton and Chryssa shown alongside a Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirror Room and recent contemporary acquisitions.

Alex Da Corte's video plays on a cube that his brother Americo, a housepainter, repaints every month, working through the rainbow. On screen, Da Corte plays Marcel Duchamp, the Joker from Tim Burton's Batman and one half of Brancusi's The Kiss.

The show takes four tower galleries on three floors. Tower 5 holds the 1960s, under Oldenburg and van Bruggen's 26-foot shuttlecock feathers. Tower 7 is built around Kusama, and level 4 has the recent acquisitions, Cattelan's taped banana included. You pass Marta Minujín's drawings for a Statue of Liberty laid on her side in Battery Park and covered in McDonald's patties, next to the letter turning it down.

ArtNowLA called the historical works "the show's strongest cards", and Highbrow's Sandra Bertrand found it "worth a concentrated look". It's included in museum admission. For the Kusama room, scan a QR code on arrival to join the virtual queue: groups of up to four get 60 seconds, entry isn't guaranteed, and the queue closes once full, so come early.

  • Soft Shuttlecock

Nine canvas-and-foam feathers, each 26 feet long, sprawl across the Tower 5 gallery, made for Oldenburg's 1995 rotunda retrospective and unseen in New York for 25 years.

  • The Kusama mirror room

On Tower Level 7, mirrors multiply flickering lights in every direction, and for part of your 60 seconds the lights go out completely.

  • Cattelan's Comedian

A single banana duct-taped to the wall in the contemporary galleries on level 4, a promised gift to the museum.

  • Jim Dine's Bedspring

A bedspring Dine found near Washington Square Park in 1960, built up with newsprint, burlap and lightbulbs.

  • Warhol's Orange Disaster #5

A grid of the same newspaper photograph of an electric chair, silkscreened over and over in orange.

Evite se

You're only coming for Kusama: entry isn't guaranteed and the virtual queue closes once it's full.

Com crianças

Children can't enter the Kusama room without an adult, and staff won't supervise those waiting outside. Strollers aren't allowed in, and the room has flickering lights and a fully dark moment.
