Il Kunstgewerbemuseum (Museo delle arti applicate) dei Staatliche Museen zu Berlin custodisce testimonianze delle arti applicate europee dal Medioevo ai giorni nostri: tra queste spiccano l'argenteria rinascimentale del consiglio municipale di Luneburgo, maioliche barocche, porcellane di Meissen, una galleria della moda che attraversa 150 anni di storia e una collezione di design che spazia dai classici del Bauhaus alla contemporaneità. La sede al Kulturforum, progettata da Rolf Gutbrod, è stata completata nel 1985 e riaperta nel novembre 2014 dopo importanti lavori di ristrutturazione. La collezione medievale, incentrata sul Tesoro dei Guelfi (Welfenschatz), è attualmente in fase di riallestimento in una sala rinnovata e non è momentaneamente visibile. Una seconda sede presso lo Schloss Köpenick, nella zona sud-orientale della città, ospita invece arredi e interni rinascimentali, barocchi e rococò.
