Seodaemun Prison History Hall

Construite en 1908 par le Japon impérial sous le nom de Gyeongseong Gamok, cette prison de briques rouges a détenu des militants coréens pour l’indépendance – dont la jeune martyre Yu Gwan-sun – pendant 80 années de domination coloniale, de division et de dictature, avant de fermer en 1987. Onze bâtiments d’origine subsistent, notamment des blocs cellulaires, une chambre de torture souterraine, des miradors et le bâtiment des exécutions, avec son tunnel dissimulé pour évacuer les corps. Depuis 1998, le site accueille un musée d’histoire et un parc mémoriel qui font face à la lutte pour l’indépendance de la Corée et à son histoire politique contemporaine.
