The Met Cloisters est le département du Metropolitan Museum of Art consacré à l'art et à l'architecture de l'Europe médiévale. Perché sur une colline de Fort Tryon Park, avec vue sur l'Hudson River, il assemble des éléments provenant de quatre cloîtres français avec des chapelles, des jardins et environ 5 000 œuvres couvrant la période byzantine jusqu'au début de la Renaissance. Son chef-d'œuvre le plus célèbre est la série des sept Tapisseries de la Licorne, présentée aux côtés du Retable de Mérode et de l'abside romane de Fuentidueña. Le bâtiment et une grande partie de sa collection furent offerts par John D. Rockefeller Jr., et le site a ouvert ses portes au public en 1938.
