Fondée par David Zwirner en 1993, cette galerie d'art contemporain de premier plan occupe plusieurs espaces à New York, dont un ensemble de bâtiments sur West 19th et 20th Streets à Chelsea, ainsi que des antennes à Tribeca et sur l'Upper East Side. Les architectes Annabelle Selldorf et Renzo Piano ont conçu ses espaces de béton sobres, qui accueillent des expositions dignes d'un musée consacrées aux grands artistes modernes et contemporains.
