Le Museo del Traje est le musée national espagnol consacré au vêtement, riche d’une collection de plus de 160 000 pièces de textile, accessoires et habits s’étendant du Moyen Âge à nos jours. Son parcours permanent fait dialoguer costumes historiques et régionaux avec la haute couture du XXe siècle signée Balenciaga, Fortuny ou Pertegaz, au gré d’une programmation dynamique d’expositions temporaires. Hébergeant également le Centro de Investigación del Patrimonio Etnológico — centre de recherche voué au patrimoine ethnologique espagnol —, l’institution a pris ses quartiers dans un bâtiment moderniste des années 1970, tout près de la Ciudad Universitaria.
