Ouvert en 2013 dans un ancien entrepôt de la Rua do Vale racheté par la municipalité de Lisbonne, l’Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar a été réaménagé par Álvaro Siza, lauréat du prix Pritzker, autour d’une galerie centrale à l’architecture épurée. Géré par EGEAC, l’entreprise culturelle de la ville, en partenariat avec la Júlio Pomar Foundation, il abrite la collection de peintures, dessins, estampes, sculptures et assemblages de l’artiste. Plutôt qu’une présentation permanente, le musée propose des expositions temporaires qui mettent en dialogue les sept décennies de la production de Pomar avec celle d’autres artistes.
