Museu Frederic Marès

Le sculpteur Frederic Marès (1893–1991) a fait don de ses collections à la ville de Barcelona en 1946. Deux ans plus tard, le musée ouvrait ses portes dans une partie de l’ancien palais royal des comtes de Barcelona, à côté de la cathédrale, dont le jardin intérieur a été préservé. Les galeries de sculptures retracent l’histoire de la sculpture hispanique, de l’Antiquité au XIXe siècle. Elles sont dominées par des figures en bois polychrome et présentent notamment un relief roman attribué au Maître de Cabestany. Le Cabinet du collectionneur, réparti sur 17 salles et que Marès appelait son « musée sentimental », rassemble éventails, pipes, horloges, jouets, clés et photographies témoignant de la vie quotidienne au XIXe siècle. Son cabinet de travail-bibliothèque présente quant à lui ses propres sculptures.
