El Sigmund Freud Museum ocupa el apartamento de Berggasse 19 donde Freud vivió y trabajó desde 1891 hasta su huida de la Austria anexionada por el nazismo en 1938. Fundado en 1971 con la presencia de Anna Freud en su inauguración, fue renovado y ampliado en 2020; hoy muestra todas las estancias privadas de la familia, así como las consultas de Sigmund y Anna Freud, incluida la sala de espera original. El edificio alberga además una destacada biblioteca de investigación psicoanalítica, una colección de arte conceptual y exposiciones temporales dedicadas al psicoanálisis y su historia.
