mumok es el mayor museo de arte moderno y contemporáneo de Austria, con alrededor de 12.500 obras de unos 1.600 artistas. Su colección se consolidó a partir de las adquisiciones fundacionales de 1959, ampliándose con la Ludwig Collection, la Hahn Collection y un exhaustivo fondo de accionismo vienés, destacando además movimientos como el Pop Art, Fluxus y el Nouveau Réalisme. Desde 2001 tiene su sede en el MuseumsQuartier, en un edificio cúbico revestido de lava basáltica diseñado por Ortner & Ortner, que alberga unos 4.800 m² de espacio expositivo repartidos en varios niveles.
