Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum es el único museo del Smithsonian Institution dedicado exclusivamente al diseño histórico y contemporáneo, con una colección de más de 200.000 objetos que abarca diseño de producto, diseño gráfico, textiles, revestimientos murales, dibujos y medios digitales. Ocupa el Andrew Carnegie Mansion, una casa urbana de estilo georgiano de 1902 con 64 habitaciones que fue una de las primeras viviendas privadas de Estados Unidos en tener una estructura de acero y un ascensor para pasajeros.
