Fundado en 1870 y ubicado desde 1909 en su emblemático edificio de Huntington Avenue diseñado por Guy Lowell, el MFA alberga más de 450 000 piezas que abarcan desde la Antigüedad hasta nuestros días. Su Art of the Americas Wing, inaugurada en 2010, distribuye a lo largo de cuatro plantas obras de pintura, escultura y artes decorativas que van desde el oro precolombino hasta creaciones de Copley, Sargent y O'Keeffe. La colección asiática, con más de 115 000 objetos, reúne el fondo de arte japonés más importante y extenso fuera de Japón, mientras que las salas dedicadas a Egipto y Nubia se nutren de las propias excavaciones del museo en Giza. The Huntington Avenue main entrance has ramps on either side of the stairs and power-assist doors; the Linde Family Wing entrance on Museum Road offers a level entrance for visitors who need one. Wheelchairs and gallery stools available to borrow free. Service dogs welcome. The State Street Corporation Fenway Entrance is currently closed.
