Ein unabhängiges, gemeinnütziges Museum, das sich dem Handwerk, der Geschichte und der aktuellen Rolle von Geheimdiensten und Spionage widmet. Die vom Guinness-Buch der Rekorde anerkannte Sammlung umfasst mehr als 7.000 Exponate – rund 1.000 davon sind ausgestellt –, darunter eine japanische Vier-Walzen-Enigma-Maschine, Wrackteile des U-2-Spionageflugzeugs von Francis Gary Powers, eine KGB-Knopflochkamera sowie der Aston Martin DB5 aus Goldfinger. 2002 im Penn Quarter eröffnet, zog das Museum 2019 in einen eigens errichteten Neubau von Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners am L'Enfant Plaza um. Dort nehmen Besucher eine Tarnidentität an und stellen ihre Agentenfähigkeiten in den Ausstellungsräumen auf die Probe. Neben den historischen Artefakten bietet das Haus ein dezidiert überparteiliches Programm zu Themen wie Geheimhaltung, Bürgerrechte, Cyber-Operationen und Desinformation.
