Inaugurat el 2004 com el primer museu nacional dedicat íntegrament als pobles indígenes, el National Museum of the American Indian de la Smithsonian ocupa un edifici de cinc plantes fet de pedra calcària de Kasota, dissenyat per Douglas Cardinal (Blackfoot) per evocar l'erosió del vent i l'aigua.
