El National Air and Space Museum de la Smithsonian Institution custodia la col·lecció d'objectes d'aviació i exploració espacial més gran del món, des del Wright Flyer de 1903 i l'Spirit of St. Louis fins al Bell X-1, la càpsula Friendship 7 de John Glenn i el mòdul de comandament Columbia de l'Apollo 11.
