Museo della Forma Urbis 於 2024 年 1 月正式開幕,坐落於鄰近 Colosseum 的 Caelian Hill,是羅馬最新落成的博物館之一。館內珍藏著極為非凡的文物:一幅於公元 203 至 211 年間、在皇帝 Septimius Severus 統治下雕刻的古羅馬巨型大理石地圖殘片。這幅原本懸掛於 Templum Pacis 牆上的地圖,長約 18 米、高約 13 米;雖然現時僅存約十分之一,但這些殘片依然為世人打開了一扇獨一無二的窗口,得以窺見古羅馬的城市格局。 展館的設計別出心裁:大理石殘片直接鋪設於地面上,下方襯托著 Giovanni Battista Nolli 於 1748 年繪製的著名羅馬地圖複製品,讓觀眾能一目了然地對照古代與 18 世紀的羅馬城貌。博物館所在的建築前身為法西斯時期的室內體育館,經活化改造後坐落於全新的 Parco Archeologico del Celio 內,園區同時涵蓋了從羅馬共和國時期至中世紀的考古遺址。 這是一座主題專門的博物館,而非人潮湧動的熱門景點。然而對於熱愛羅馬都市規劃、地圖學或考古學的訪客而言,這裡絕對令人嘆為觀止。而且比起山下遊人如織的地標,這裡格外清幽靜謐,讓人能悠然漫步其中。
