In a dark room, four fairground coin-pusher machines, lit from inside, slowly shuffle sobriety tokens stamped "9 Months" or "AA 8 Years". Brognon Rollin spent four years buying them from online auctions and second-hand sites, and on 22 October the installation won the duo this year's Prix Marcel Duchamp.

The other three nominees show alongside, inside the permanent collection. Joël Andrianomearisoa relearns the alphabet: 26 sculptures along a 12-metre plinth, then four embroidered canvases five metres wide. Laura Henno's 46-minute film runs on three screens with five-point sound, following residents of Slab City, a desert camp by a US military base in California. Josèfa Ntjam's 28-minute film is a tarot reading between a son and her own father, and an Offi reviewer called her room "mysterious and magnetic".

The two films alone come to 74 minutes, so you'll want more than a quick lap between the Dufy and the Matisse. Entry is free with no booking, and Thursdays run until 21:30.

看点

  • The winning coin pushers

Look for the stamps on the tokens inside four lit-up fairground machines, such as "9 Months", "Celebration Recovery" and "AA 8 Years", each marking a stretch of someone's abstinence.

  • A 12-metre alphabet

Andrianomearisoa's 26 sculptures stand in a row on one long plinth and read like a frieze, one letter at a time, before reappearing on four embroidered canvases.

  • Tony's camp at Slab City

In Henno's three-screen film, one resident has landscaped his camp like a park, with pebbles and shrubs, along the fence of an army training ground.

  • Ntjam's chorus of sculptures

Three ceramics and three wooden sculptures hold transducers that make the material vibrate, so the pieces play like instruments around her film.

  • The tarot cards

In Ntjam's film the ocean, village and maquis cards each open an animated world of Cameroon's history, and it ends on a traditional song in Bassa.
