Costruito tra il 1723 e il 1726 per l'imperatore Carlo VI su progetto di Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach e completato dal figlio Joseph Emanuel, il Prunksaal (State Hall) è una delle sale di biblioteca storica più spettacolari al mondo. Sotto la cupola affrescata da Daniel Gran con l'apoteosi dell'imperatore, gli scaffali in noce custodiscono circa 200.000 volumi stampati tra il 1501 e il 1850, compresa la biblioteca del principe Eugenio di Savoia, che conta circa 15.000 tomi. Statue in marmo dei fratelli Strudel e quattro globi di Coronelli impreziosiscono la sala, che ospita inoltre le principali mostre temporanee della biblioteca.
