Conçu par Zaha Hadid et inauguré en 2014, le Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) est le plus grand bâtiment tridimensionnel à forme libre au monde. Son enveloppe aux courbes fluides, composée de 45 133 panneaux d’aluminium, abrite 86 575 mètres carrés d’espaces comprenant des halls d’exposition, un musée du design, des salles de conférence, des espaces de marché et un parc sur le toit. Édifié sur le site de l’ancien stade de Dongdaemun, à Séoul, il est devenu le principal lieu de la culture du design dans la ville. Il accueille des semaines de la mode, des salons du design, des lancements de produits ainsi que Seoul Light DDP, un festival récurrent d’art médiatique qui projette à la nuit tombée des œuvres numériques de grande envergure sur sa façade. L’accès au bâtiment, à ses espaces extérieurs et au Design Store est gratuit ; les expositions et événements organisés dans ses halls sont payants et nécessitent un billet distinct.
