Musée national d'histoire naturelle d'Espagne, géré par le conseil de recherche du CSIC au sein du Palacio de las Artes y la Industria (1887), sur la Calle de José Gutiérrez Abascal. Héritières du Real Gabinete de Historia Natural fondé par Charles III en 1771, ses collections rassemblent aujourd'hui plus de huit millions de spécimens. Les galeries permanentes abordent la biodiversité, les minéraux et fossiles, l'évolution humaine et la Méditerranée, complétées par des expositions temporaires dédiées aux sciences et à la nature.
