El National Archives Museum ocupa el monumental edificio neoclásico de 1935 diseñado por John Russell Pope en Constitution Avenue, donde se custodian los Charters of Freedom —los textos originales de la Declaración de Independencia, la Constitución y la Carta de Derechos— expuestos bajo la majestuosa cúpula de la Rotunda. Junto a ellos se exhibe un ejemplar original de la Carta Magna de 1297 en la David M. Rubenstein Gallery, así como The American Story, un espacio permanente inaugurado en noviembre de 2025 que recurre a la inteligencia artificial para que cada visitante pueda explorar millones de fondos documentales. Un Discovery Center pensado para el público joven y la muestra rotativa «Opening the Vault», con piezas de archivo rara vez expuestas, completan la visita. El acceso es gratuito.
