El American University Museum abrió sus puertas en 2005 en el Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen Arts Center, junto a Ward Circle. Sus más de 4000 metros cuadrados distribuidos en tres niveles lo convierten en el mayor espacio universitario de la región dedicado a la exhibición de arte. El museo presenta unas 24 exposiciones al año organizadas por temporadas, con una marcada apuesta por el arte contemporáneo tanto de Washington como internacional.
